Well believe it or not, before 'moon milk' became a wellness trend I had been introduced to it few years back and then it did not had a fancy name!
I went to a Yoga retreat in India, and there I was introduced to this drink in my ashram.
It was simply called haldi doodh, an Indian drink that's known as golden milk in the West. A simple mixture of warm milk and turmeric, that has fallen into an all-too-familiar cultural trap: when people of Indian heritage make the hot drink, it's deemed "exotic"; when white people do the same, it's suddenly a superfood-infused broth that everyone needs to try.
Moon Milk, is not an extraordinary new scientific discovery but an age old remedy from the ancient Ayurvedic medicine system.
While others may argue about the claims of origin, I am here to certify that this simple drink works and has many benefits in today's stressful lives.

For those, who don't know what are adaptogens.
Adaptogens are plants -based compounds mainly derived from herb and roots. They are said to moderate your body's response to stress, boost your energy levels and even help to promote a healthy immune system. Ashwagandha is one of the most popular adaptogens found in these trending drinks.
HOW TO MAKE MOON MILK
MILK - Hemp Milk, Nut Milk, Cow Milk, Almond Milk, Coconut Milk, Goat Milk, basically any kind of milk.
SUPER SPICES - Turmeric, Cinnamon, Nutmeg
ADAPTOGENS - Ashwagandha, Panax Ginseng, Basil, Astragalus root, Licorice root
- Heat the milk, you can bring it to a boil or just warm it.
- Add your choice of spice - one or more (1/2 tablespoon)
- Add your choice of Adaptogen (1/2 tablespoon)
- Mix it well with a spoon

MERMAID MOON MILK

We’ve made ours with homemade hemp milk, but you could also use any kind of nut milk.
For home made hemp milk:
1 cup of The Wholefood Pantry Hemp Seeds
3 cups filtered water
pinch of Himalayan Crystal Salt
For the Moon Milk (1 cup):
1 tsp Mermaid Latte
1 tsp The Wholefood Pantry Coconut Oil
1 tsp The Wholefood Pantry Maple Syrup (depending if you like it sweet)
1/4 The Wholefood Pantry of vanilla bean, powder or paste
Dried rose petals (optional)
To make the hemp milk place hemp seeds, water and salt in a high powered blender. Blitz for a few minutes until pulverised. Then strain through a cloth. Keeps for about 3 days in the fridge. Note: You can make sweetened hemp milk by adding some maple syrup and vanilla.
To make the moon milk, place 1 cup of hemp milk, Mermaid Latte, Coconut Oil, Maple Syrup and vanilla bean in a saucepan and simmer until warm, whisking vigorously to infuse. Pour into your favourite cup, top with dried rose petals and enjoy.

BEST TIME TO DRINK MOON MILK
Moon Milk, works best before going to bed and it will help you sleep better.
But it can be taken anytime of the day, it does not work like a sleeping pill which will force you to fall asleep.
It will have a calming effect after you drink it, and its benefits will kick in no matter what time you drink.
But still, its best to be taken before going to bed.
